10 with a 10.
The only parameters are that it bolsters up a:
3. Who answers 10 inquiring questions.
This week, Amber Joliat, the force behind MISFITSTUDIO, a wonderfully calming destination resting on the 3rd floor in a former church. We spoke about life and business and passion standing in an alley way the morning before she flew off to Italy. I left feeling wholly appreciated and valuable in the wake of her presence. She gives you her attention, her time and herself when she's with you and it's such a beautiful thing.
1. What do you do and what does it give to people?
I am a creator and for the past 5 years it has manifest into the creation of MISFITSTUDIO, a movement studio focusing on mindfulness, dance and empowerment. It's an open and encouraging home for misfits to swirl in and a reminder for people to reconnect and become comfortable in their own skin.
(aka, a pilates/yoga/dance studio)
2. What's a piece of advice you consistently find yourself giving out but find hard to take yourself?
To be good to yourself, as in take a bath, get a massage, go for a slow walk, sleep in...
I have a few VERY exciting projects on the go and find when I lose track of time, I forget to do the things that help my stay connected to myself.
3. How do you rely on others to make you better?
The deep friendships in my life are like therapy for me. I honour them, I cherish them and I listen to their gentle suggestions.
4. Someone gives you 50 mill. What's the FIRST way your life changes?
Parameters no longer exist.
Debt is erased.
Everyone I love is TAKEN CARE OF.
The avenues I'm keen on creating for MISFITSTUDIO are smooth sailing and travel becomes adventure as I've never known it.
5. What has compelled you forward more than anything else?
DRIVE and DISCIPLINE. I actually believe they make up part of my blood.
As a child I was very driven and thrived in the discipline of dance. It has shaped me to this day and I try to live each day as full and vibrantly as possible
You just never know what tomorrow will bring.
6. Do you like when people ask you, "Where do you want to be in 5 years?"
I truly don't.
I practice living in the moment.
As I get older, I find my mind wandering to the future which freaks me out a bit.
7. If someone was handed a script of your inner dialogue this week, what would it say?
Life is interesting.
I have incredible women in my life.
My man reminds me there is romance in the world.
Magic is everywhere.
What's going on astrologically this week?
Do I have too many flowers around the studio?
I'm grateful for the sunshine.
8. Are you spontaneous?
Automatically, I say yes.
That being said, my little bag is always packed with a picnic blanket, a bit of $$, a hunting knife, extra undies, a toothbrush, mascara and a stick of incense because, you just never know!
9. Are you failing differently each time?
I choose to see each "fail" as an opportunity for growth.
The lesson is in the perspective.
10. Paul Newman or Robert Redford?
*I'm out west for 2 weeks starting today, so I'll see all ya'll for regularly scheduled 10 WITH A 10 programming Monday, October 19.
