Do you feel as though you belong in this industry?

No.

They'll let you write your name on a name tag when you walk up, but i'm nearly five years in, and I'm not sure if i've found my seat yet.
It's disheartening when there are benchmarks, tipping points that others seemed to have ticked off so quickly, sometimes in less than a year of operations, and I haven't.

I don't want to design with gold foil and trends and painted flowers in mind.
I just can't. I won't.
I don't know how to fit in. I don't know how to grab the flashlight and have it pour over my work because I don't even want to be on Twitter or any number of blogs with recipes.

But what pulls right up in the back of my mind, in this moment, is the question,
ARE YOU GOING TO LET NOT FITTING IN MEAN YOU WON'T STAND OUT?

And I guess I am going to need to answer that.
